Overview
Take a trip to Barossa Valley on your Australia vacation.
The Barossa Valley is a world-class wine region located in South Australia and only 70 kilometres/45 miles northeast of Adelaide. It is Australia’s best-known wine-producing region and has more than 150 wineries to be enjoyed on an Australia vacation.
This picturesque area has been producing wine since the early part of the 1800s. Barossa wines have developed an excellent reputation and have gained international appeal as Australia’s leader in wines of great distinction, particularly Shiraz. The climate is continental and has cool summers and moderate winters.
A typical journey on an Australia vacation through the scenic Barossa Valley takes you over vine-covered hills scattered with historic villages and of course wineries. Wine tastings are featured at most of the wineries and also quite often, there is a restaurant attached offering excellent quality lunches and dinners.
There is an excellent Farmers Market every Saturday morning in Angaston where you can buy or sample meats, bread, cheeses and vegetables.
